Transportation improvement projects can transform a community’s economic vitality. They can reduce travel time, increase access, and promote new development. With an investment of nearly $80 million, the Ohio Department of Transportation added new lanes and ramps at the interchange of Martin Luther King Drive and I-71, near a major employment center in the Greater Cincinnati Region. In its application for state funding, the City of Cincinnati needed assistance quantifying the economic benefits to the surrounding community. At the core of this report are impacts of construction in terms of jobs and wages, as well as the additional private investments that the Martin Luther King I-71 interchange would bring to this second largest employment hub of the City of Cincinnati.
