On behalf of the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants, Center researchers analyzed Ohio retail spending to deliver a new holiday sales forecast for the state. The Center’s analysis shows holiday spending in Ohio is expected to grow 3.1% this year, reaching $32 billion.
Among the other highlights:
- Online shopping continues to be a growing component of retail sales, although growth has stabilized since the COVID-19 pandemic. Growth in non-store retail sales, which includes online and mobile shopping, has exceeded overall retail sales growth in Ohio since 2013.
- The Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati metropolitan areas are anticipated to account for the majority of Ohio holiday spending, making up over 55 percent of the total.
