A large scale redevelopment of 2,000 acres of industrial land for manufacturing purposes can only be warranted if a significant benefit to the region – in terms of jobs and new investment – can be accrued. The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority used the Center’s report to build the case for the business community to invest in the redevelopment of this industrial land in Hamilton County. Our work examined the historic, current, and potential impacts of manufacturing in relation to jobs, earnings, and output in addition to the economic and fiscal impacts of the proposed redevelopment. The analysis considered the region’s competitive advantage, skilled workforce, and infrastructure to provide the complete picture of the manufacturing industry’s benefits in Hamilton County.
